Hiking late in the afternoon after a winter storm, the colors of the mountain were muted, while the blue-green chamisa sparkled. In the muted light, the scene was quite monochromatic except for the brilliantly red bushes in the distance and the trail that led to them. Not much snow had survived the intense winter sun, so the scene had a feeling reminiscent of fall.
